*he pauses a little ways back, not bothering to care to pay attention to the wind or anything, the kid will realize he's there eventually and he's for now leaving that up to chance... Though he wonders if it might be a better idea to let the kid know he's here before the kid shifts. He glances toward the east and then back to the kid, enjoying the feel of the night... He has a brief thought that he should wonder at the kid's control of his beast, but he doesn't care, having full confidence he can either hold his own against the pup or just fly out of reach*

*he grins and mentally chuckles, debating helping the kid hunt, if the kid seems inclined once he shifts, Paul will be sure to point him toward the right places, dark and shadowed... Perhaps they'll find a few stray Surf Nazis? He would like that, if nothing else it might be amusing to watch*

*he shifts his weight lightly as he waits, still pondering saying something to try and comfort the kid before he changes*
