*a few muffled noises come through the journal -- the owl has taken exception to Jei's ultimatum and swooped at him just as he whipped the top-sheet off his bed to shield himself; scraps of cloth fly everywhere and the letter floats down to the floorboards, its heading printed prominently in lavender ink...
